ROA

Histoire Naturelle

Using rollers, bombs, black and white, Roa shares with us his astonishing observation of the animal world. The result can take a variety of forms (a sleeping rabbit, a moving anteater, a decomposing buffalo, etc.) and reminds us, without artifice, of the cycle of life.

With his drawings that resemble animal anatomy textbooks and the way he integrates his subjects into the architecture around them, Roa showcases species that are often familiar, endangered, or completelyextinct. This allows us to discover the richness of a fauna that is too often overlooked.

Through his work, he criticises the human race. Where some might perceive his work as nothing more than a bestiary, isn’t his main subject, in the end, man’s place on earth and his impact on the environment?
